A lifetime of flight experience.

Who is Justin Davis?
I started flying RC Airplanes and Gliders when I was 10 years old.
"Aviation is in my blood. I have to credit my Father, my mentor Eddie Gray, and Encyclopedia Britannica for getting me into aviation.

At 6 or 7 years old I was reading in any books I could find about the basics of aviation, space, and rocketry. In my early years I spent hours creating and modding Balsa planes. After school I would fly and test these experimental planes in the yard. I took note of how each plane flew, performed, and distance each flew based on their fuselage and wing designs. I was obsessed.

I was born 45 minutes
away from where the
Wright Brothers flew.

I started officially flying R/C in 1985 with an 8 foot wing span balsa glider that my father gave me for Christmas. But my father was not round to teach me how to fly it. In 1988 I met Eddie Gray. Eddie was 27 years old and a private pilot and R/C pilot and builder. Eddie mentored me to fly, build, R/C planes. Later teaching me to fly full a scale Cessna 172. Eddie also gave me full scale flight manuals to study for my pilot's license. We developed a great friendship through flight. Eddie passed away in 1989. I went on to fly R/C aircraft inspired by Eddie Gray. RIP Eddie Gray  - 1989. To this day I teach other's based on the premise of "Passing it forward." Re-gifting what Eddie gave to me so many years ago. It brings me joy to know I can inspire someone to fly.

I graduated from college in 1998
with a bachelor's degree in video production. A passion for video and flight merged. The introduction of (Fpv) first person view flying came soon after. In 2005 I began experienting and building home made camera gimbals in his shop. Using an R/C helicopter called the Trex 700 to shoot aerial video of R/C Fly-In events in North Carolina. Using my aerial video skills I was one of the first ever to make aerial event videos for AMA Sponsored Events in my home Ama district.

Early inspiration led to...
Drone Camps RC being founded in 2014.
The basis of Drone Camps was founded on passing it forward to inspire and educate new R/C pilots. Drone Camps RC  hobby store and education center was opened in NC in 2014. The store is now closed. The mission did not die there. I continue to help millions around the world. Making over 2000 videos, reviews, and tutorials to help new pilots. These videos are taught in very basic and easy to understand terminology. Drone Camps continues to help new pilots fly.
"Every day I'm driven to teach new pilots something.
So they can pass on to the next pilot." - This is my goal.
Help. Inspire. Educate others in Aviation.

Original Drone Camps Public Safety Guide Document
for US Drone Pilots written and published by Justin Davis in 2014.

Written by Justin Davis in early 2014 before any FAA Rules were in effect. We served the public starting in 2014 for public safety in drone operations. This guide served as a public aid for new drone pilots to follow before FAA rules came out. Some of these same rules below are now enforced by the FAA in their current guidelines.
